How to create or update a Wikidata entry
Wikidata is community-edited. To add your brand:
- Create a new item with your brand name
- Add properties: instance of (organization/software/etc.), official website, founding date, industry/category, headquarters, founders
- Link to related Wikipedia articles and items
- Add identifiers (Crunchbase, LinkedIn, GLEIF if applicable)
Wikidata entries must meet notability criteria — typically satisfied by press coverage in multiple independent publications. Brands that haven’t yet received significant press coverage should focus on earned media before creating a Wikidata entry.
Wikidata vs. Wikipedia
Wikipedia is human-readable text; Wikidata is structured data. Both are valuable for AI entity building, but for different reasons. Wikipedia provides the training text that describes your brand in context; Wikidata provides the structured facts that anchor key properties. Ideally you have both.
